The First Choice of Prize Winning Gardeners & Lovers of Real Food
My AccountAt last we have come across a variety of Blackcurrant that, when fully ripe, is sweet enough to eat straight from the bush.
Unlike the other varieties that we offer, which are superb culinary varieties and great for puddings, pies and preserves, this is a true dessert variety.
The currants are big and early ripening - we were picking fruit up to 18mm diameter in early July 2008, when, let's face it, growing conditions were far from ideal - and are produced on moderately vigorous bushes that have an open, slightly spreading habit. So, easy picking, plus easy eating!
