My AccountGijnlim is an early season Asparagus, a high yielding male variety producing medium thick, mid-green spears with closed purple tips.
Highly recommended for its excellent flavour and quality, it is now our customers' firm favourite!
There is surely nothing that even comes close to the delicious flavour of freshly harvested home grown British Asparagus, simply steamed and served with melting butter!
Marshalls supply one year old, well grown crowns. To allow optimum development do not cut in first year and cut spears only sparingly in second year.

The crowns came on time in April 2011 and all 10 grew very well, some giving 7 or 8 ferns. The temptation to cut and cook them was almost unbrearable, just managed to resist, can't wait to try one or two next year!
Recieved and planted last week, spears already showing, what great root stock! Can't wait for my crop in two years time.
Planted my crowns a couple of days after delivery in April 2010. One spear I accidently knocked & broke, one was attacked?? by a bird & broke off, one kind of shrivelled & wilted half way up the stem. All grew a 2nd spear a few weeks later. 2 spears didnt appear so I dug down & found them & then they came up beautifully. I now have 10/10 all about 4ft high ferns (July 2010) & doing well after their wobbly start.
August is primarily about harvesting your crops, but there are still some vegetables that can be sown and planted out!
