This perennial plant produces abundant yields of tender and flavourful purple artichokes.
Sow under glass, February-March. Transplant in June to crop autumn and the following May. Sow direct in April for cropping the following year.

Several plants flowered first year. Large globes, deep colour, very attractive.
Great architectural plant and delicious too!

Sow Indoors: February-April singly, 1in (2cm) deep in clean module trays of firm pre watered seed compost. Grow under cool, light conditions.
Grow On: Harden off before planting out in May 2ft (60cm) apart.
Sow Outdoors: March-June thinly 1in (2cm) deep. Transplant 2ft (60cm) apart to final positions in summer.
Harvest: July-September
Early sowings can be harvested same year. Later sowings the following year.
